Liverpool already have an immensely strong squad, but there will likely be significant turnover amongst the back up players come the end of the season.

The likes of Simon Mignolet, Alberto Moreno, Adam Lallana, Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge could all leave Anfield in the summer. And, given that three of those players play more or less in the final third, some attacking reinforcements could be in order in a few months time.

With that in mind, Liverpool should consider launching a blockbuster summer move for Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha. The Ivory Coast international is at the peak of his powers, and he’d be a wonderful addition to this Reds squad.

Competition for the dazzling 26-year-old will be fierce, of course. Sky Sports reported on Thursday that Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund have already held initial talks with Zaha’s representatives over a summer move.

Jurgen Klopp, though, should be looking to blow his former side out of the water.

Zaha would fit in perfectly with this current Liverpool team. He has the speed and technical ability to flourish alongside higher quality team mates than he has at Palace. Plus, he will have learned from his failed spell at Manchester United earlier in his career.

He has shown this season that not only can he operate as an orthodox winger, he can perform well as part of a fluid strike partnership with Andros Townsend, as well.

That ability to play along the front line, as well as out wide, is what would make him such an invaluable asset for the Reds. He would seamlessly transition into Liverpool’s high octane attack, and could even play alongside Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Firmino dropping deeper as he has at times this campaign.

Certainly he’d be a big upgrade on Messrs Lallana, Origi and Stturridge. He has more game changing ability than any of those players and fits better into this Liverpool team.

Again, Dortmund will be stiff competition. But if Liverpool want to keep the ball rolling beyond this season then they need to reinforce their squad with more quality. Zaha would be just the man to help them do that.
