Liverpool have been put on red alert by Isco’s continued exclusion from Real Madrid’s squad, according to Calcio Mercato.

The 36 cap Spanish international has struggled for game time under Santiago Solari, and has been omitted from Real’s squad list for their Copa del Rey clash with Barcelona on Wednesday night.

According to the Italian outlet, the ongoing decision to leave Isco on the periphery has attracted a lot of interest from Liverpool, but the Reds could face competition from Juventus for the playmaker, who has a £597million release clause in his contract.

Good move for Liverpool?

Yes, definitely. There has never been any doubting Isco’s talent, and it would appear that his continued ostracisation is a matter of attitude rather than ability. For whatever reason, Solari doesn’t like the Spanish international, and as a result he has really struggled to make any kind of meaningful impact this season. Isco will not be keen to sit around waiting for his cache forever, and you can bet that if things don’t change quickly then he will be looking to secure a move to a new club come the simmer transfer window.

Likely to happen?

This would take an awful lot. The extortionate release clause would never come into the equation because the only way he will go is if Madrid sanction his departure, but nonetheless, luring a player of Isco’s quality to Anfield would be a real coup. The Reds would face huge competition from across world football, and it is much easier to imagine Isco rocking up in Italy or Germany than it is to see him making the move to Merseyside. Never say never though…
