OPINION
The first 45 minutes of Liverpool’s clash with West Ham United looked like following a now-typical pattern for midfielder Adam Lallana. The England international just couldn’t seem to get anything going in the early goings at the London Stadium, as the Reds struggled to find their feet before Sadio Mane’s goal. He was producing some nice moments of skill but looked a passenger defensively and wasn’t creating anything of note. Then, suddenly, he was heavily involved in Mane’s goal. He beat Aaron Cresswell with one of his trademark turns and slipped in James Milner, who promptly swept the ball across for the Senegal star to score. That is what Lallana can do when he’s in his groove. It wasn’t enough, evidently, to get some Reds fans off his back, but that’s life. He still needs to produce these moments of quality more consistently because that’s been his problem in recent times. If he can do that, and stay fit, then he’ll go some way to reversing the negative opinions that some Liverpool supporters clearly have of him.

Adam Lallana playing exactly as to be expected – way off the pace and slowing everything down. Ball bounces off him like a wall. #LFC

Lallana in a nutshell, takes out 2 defenders with a Cruff turn and fluffs the shot by backpassing it to the keeper. #lfc
