Liverpool could face competition for the services of Benfica wonderland Joao Felix from Wolves, according to the Daily Mirror, but the Reds must beat their Premier League rivals to his signature.

The same paper has previously reported that it was Liverpool who were readying a move for the 19-year-old, but it is now understood that Wanderers are in pole position to snap him up.

Jurgen Klopp must not let that happen.

Felix is a supremely talented young player with the potential to be genuinely world class. The attacker, who generally operates just in behind a main striker, has hit nine goals in all competitions already this season, as well as chipping in with a further five assists.

He has all the attributes needed to become a top talent, and will no doubt fetch a handsome fee when he inevitably leaves Portugal for one of the bigger leagues in Europe.

However, much he costs now, however, you can bet that that fee would be hiked up substantially by a spell at any club in the Premier League.

Wolves may have ambitions of Champions League football, and they may realise them, but if they don’t and Felix were to look for a move again, the likes of Klopp’s Reds would surely be the kind of team interested in signing him up.

It’s all hypothetical, of course, but splashing the cash now could save Liverpool a fortune in the relatively near future.

Add to that the fact that Felix is one of the most exciting attacking talents in Europe, and this deal becomes a no-brainer.
