Trent Alexander-Arnold has withdrawn from England’s squad ahead of their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers, and Liverpool fans will be having sleepless nights over the prospect of missing one of their main man.

The news was confirmed by the club via their official website on Wednesday evening.

The Reds’ defender picked up a minor knock in training and will not be risked in the Three Lions’ upcoming matches with Czech Republic and Montenegro.

It is understood that the full-back is suffering with a back injury, and will return to Melwood for rehabilitation after he was deemed unable to feature in either game

This is just about every Liverpool fan’s worst nightmare. The Reds only just got their boy wonder back from injury, and now the worry will be that he has picked up a knock that could keep him out of some of the crucial matches they have coming up in the near future.

By the sounds of it, nothing is too serious and this is just a precautionary measure, but Liverpool fans won’t rest until they know for sure.

Alexander-Arnold has been in brilliant form of late for his club, and Gareth Southgate will be disappointed to not get him in amongst the action on Friday night.

The youngster has the potential to be England’s number one for the foreseeable future, and you would expect this qualifying campaign to be his first real opportunity to stamp his authority on a position that he could really make his own.

Hopefully this is just a minor setback for his sake and Liverpool’s.
