Liverpool reportedly want over £12million for Ryan Kent, and while it might be unlikely to happen, Rangers fans would undoubtedly be in meltdown if Dave King splashed the cash to sign the 22-year-old in the summer.

Kent is nearing the end of his season-long loan spell at Ibrox and has unsurprisingly been one of the best players in Steven Gerrard’s first year in management.

He has made 37 appearances across all competitions for Rangers, scoring five goals and supplying nine assists in the process as he helped the Glasgow side reach the Europa League group stages and put in a superb performance to help win the Old Firm against Celtic in December.

However it seems that Rangers’ hopes of signing Kent for a second season and beyond are waning.

The Liverpool Echo has reported that Liverpool want over £12million for the former England Under-20 international and they are not keen on the idea of sending him out on loan again.

Rangers’ most expensive signing since their 2012 financial meltdown was when they bought Connor Goldson from Brighton for £3million last summer, so they would have to spend around four times that much to see Kent extend his stay in Glasgow.

While the move is bound to be hard for Rangers to pull off, chairman King would have the fans drooling if he did fund a big money move for the dazzling winger.

Liverpool might be willing to drop their asking price to below £10million with a bit of negotiating by Mark Allen, and Gerrard might be able to get a discount considering his years of service at Anfield.

It’s not impossible for Rangers to be able to sign Kent and it won’t hurt for them to have a go at landing the jet-heeled attacker in the summer transfer window.
