Liverpool will refuse to sell attacker Sadio Mane no matter the price amid reported interest from Real Madrid, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claims that the Reds have absolutely no intention of parting with the 26-year-old, who has scored 11 times since the turn of the year.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is thought to be a huge admirer of the Senegal international, with Spanish outlet Don Balon reporting on Tuesday that the Frenchman is interested in a swap deal for Mane including playmaker Marco Asensio.

Don Balon’s report states that Liverpool value Mane at £153.2million, but the Mirror assert that the Reds will resist any and all overtures for the former Southampton man.

OPINION

This Mane speculation is getting a bit out of hand now with figures like £153.2million bandied about, but it seems like that not even that would persuade the Reds to part ways with the Senegal star. It’s a sign of how important Mane has become to Liverpool that that is now the case. It’s definitely a positive thing that Liverpool are refusing to sell him at any price, it shows that they will not be bullied by other European teams any more. Gone, it seems, are the days of Madrid and Barcelona stealing the club’s best players away because, honestly, why would you want to swap Liverpool for the Bernabeu or the Nou Camp these days? Madrid are an absolute mess at the moment, while Barca are not the same brilliant side that they once were. Liverpool, on the other hand, are on a high and are only going to get better in the coming years. Either way, though, Mane looks set to stay at Anfield and that’s tremendous news for everyone associated with the club.
