Matt Le Tissier heaped praise on Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana and highlighted how confident the player is in his ability.

The 30-year-old Reds attacking midfielder was discussed by Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday panel ahead of the three o’clock kick-offs and Jeff Stelling revealed he noticed the player appeared to never stop running.

“Look at the game against Fulham Tiss, Jurgen Klopp has said Adam Lallana is clicking again after his dark days and the thing I noticed about Lallana is that he offers himself all the time, he is in perpetual motion y’know,” said Stelling on Soccer Saturday (Sky Sports News, March 30th, 12:31).

“Causing teams problems, he is making the runs constantly and that was throughout the time he was on the field.”

This prompted Le Tissier to gush about Lallana with him claiming that the player is very underrated.

“No absolutely, him at his best, he’s always, no matter how tight the situation is, he wants to have the ball,” remarked the pundit.

“He has so much confidence in his own ability, he is a very very underrated player and he has some dark days but when Adam Lallana is on top of his form he is a massive bonus for Liverpool.”

OPINION

Lallana has been somewhat of a forgotten man this season as injury has gotten the better of him. The 30-year-old has only managed to make 13 appearances and there seem to be constant reports that he was stuck on the sidelines for one reason or another. When you consider that his 2017/18 season was a similar sad story, few probably forgot Lallana was on the books. Yet the player’s most recent displays, particularly against Fulham, made everyone sit up and take notice. The experienced playmaker looked like being the creative spark Jurgen Klopp’s side have lacked throughout this season and if he can stay fit, he’ll be an asset. However you can’t help but be worried about the player being handed another set-back, as his recent injury record just makes you fear the worst. Yet Klopp has always appeared to be careful with his use of Lallana, so that may add the playmaker’s bid to be fit for the games that remain.
