Liverpool suffered a heart breaking defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League Final last season and they will no doubt be wanting to avenge that this time around.

The next team that stands in their way of European glory is Porto in the quarter-finals of the competition, and many fans will certainly feel that they have a better chance than any of repeating their path to the final this term.

Well, they could be in for a good read after Jose Mourinho made a prediction that will make supporters everywhere fuming.

He has ruled Liverpool out completely of winning the Champions League, instead plumping for a Barcelona and Juventus final. Does not seem too far fetched, but the fact that he has not included any of the four English teams still left is rather baffling.

Liverpool have as much chance of any of winning the contest. They have some of Europe’s best players in their side, and it is surprising that Mourinho has not given them more of a chance.

“Juventus and Barcelona are the two great candidates for the final victory and will reach the bottom. All they talk about [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi, but I prefer to talk about Juve and Barcelona,” he said, as quoted by the Express.

“I will always be a football coach and football continues to be a team sport. Juventus and Barcelona have experience, talent and a special player each. There are these special players, the teams end up becoming the best.”

It is odd that he has taken this kind of stance. Granted, both of the teams he has mentioned have a great opportunity of winning the whole thing. However, you cannot help but think that his reluctance to include Liverpool in his prediction is due to his bitterness after getting sacked from United.

Either way, Liverpool maybe will have extra motivation to prove Mourinho wrong by lifting the Champions League as they will eager to hand their fans some bragging rights over the former Man United boss.
