COMMENTARY
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson often comes under fire from supporters left, right and centre but that wasn’t the case on Monday. The Reds captain came off the bench to rack up his 50th cap for England in their 5-1 win over Montenegro and seemed to leave many international supporters in awe. There seem to be a mini-debate which word class player he was reminding fans off, as one supporter tweeted he was like Andrea Pirlo while another claimed he was like Lionel Messi. It was actually bizarre to see fans heap this level of praise on Henderson but none the less it was deserved. Upon entering the game, the central midfielder was a significant presence on the field. Henderson’s passing dictated the tempo and then he played an absolutely beautiful pass to put Raheem Sterling through on goal. If the midfielder can keep submitting performances like that, then few will ever question his ability.
