OPINION

As a Manchester City fan, the prospect of having your star striker Sergio Aguero missing for even one game is not worth thinking about.

He has scored 29 goals in 38 appearances this season, and he is no doubt a pivotal part of the team’s pledge to win back-to-back Premier League titles.

For Liverpool fans, he is the main thing that is standing between them winning the title in years. With him in the side, City are highly dangerous – the one thing that the Reds obviously do not want.

However, the tides may have been turned after City’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday. Aguero was taken off as a precaution after suffering from a knock – and he could be absent for their upcoming matches in the league.

“Tomorrow we have the real assessment, he says he felt something but not injured. For precaution he decided not to continue, hopefully it’s nothing serious,” boss Pep Guardiola said after the match, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool fans everywhere will surely jump for joy if Guardiola has his worst fears confirmed about his goal machine. It is such a crucial stage of the season now, and with everything going down to the wire, he cannot afford to have the 30-year-old injured.

This would be the major boost that the Reds need this term. They need luck to be on their side after the heartbreak of 2014, and this may be the thing that provides them with it.

City are currently one point ahead of them, and with the top two changing as the weeks go by, Aguero’s potential absence could be completely game changing. City will not be as much of a threat going forward without the ace, which in turn could affect their results.

Either way, the Liverpool fans – as well as Klopp, no doubt – will surely jump for joy if City are without one of their best players in the next few weeks.
