OPINION

Ask most Liverpool fans and they would probably tell you that they would rather lose their right arm than see Jurgen Klopp walk away from the club.

The grinning German has been a revelation since arriving at Anfield, and now, with the season fast approaching its business end, the Reds have their best chance in years of breaking their league title duck.

So it will have come as something of a sucker punch when rumours started circulating stating that Real Madrid have made Klopp their number one target to replace the under fire Santiago Solari, as reported by the Independent.

The prospect of losing the boss is bad enough, but to lose him to a side who pipped them to the post for last season’s Champions League, before Klopp has fully been able to exorcise those demons. would be especially galling.

Reds fans can rest easy, however, because, according to the Telegraph, Klopp has no intention of going anywhere.

The German’s current contract runs until 2022, and, as the report states, he will not walk away from Merseyside with success so close.

Beyond that, it is difficult to say what the future holds for Klopp, but in the immediacy, with the prospect of silverware tantalisingly close, it is understood that he is staying put.

There may be nervous times ahead for Liverpool, but that news alone should be enough to have most Reds dancing in the streets.
