OPINION
After a truly hellish year out through injury, it is such a sight to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back in training and putting himself in contention for a staring role in the business end of Liverpool’s season. After a report from the Liverpool Echo suggested that the Reds were facing a late decision on whether or not to give the Ox a nod for Friday’s U23 clash with Derby County, a video of the midfielder in training, posted by Sky Sports News, would suggest that he is ready for action. The sooner he can get back in amongst it the better for the Reds. After having left Arsenal, where he was seemingly being held back somewhat, he has flourished under Jurgen Klopp and looks every inch the player he always promised to be. The England international was at the peak of his powers before rupturing his cruciate ligament last April, and now, with the Reds approaching a tricky juncture in their campaign, they could do with his presence more than ever. The Ox is a high intensity jack of all trades who brings a bite and attacking swagger to proceedings whenever he is called upon. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before he is back properly.
Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to return to action on Friday for The Reds' U23s.
