Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would be wise to change his formation slightly against Everton on Sunday, from a 4-3-3 to the 4-2-3-1 which proved successful earlier this season.

That tactical tweak would necessitate the removal of two players from the Reds starting line up which battered Watford on Wednesday. James Milner and 23-year-old Divock Origi are the starters who should drop out at Goodison Park.

Playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and attacker Roberto Firmino deserve to come in for the aforementioned duo, with the Brazilian expected to have recovered from the knock he took against Manchester United last weekend.

Those will likely be the only changes Klopp makes following Wednesday’s much-needed return to form. Two switches should be more than enough for Liverpool to beat their fierce rivals at a canter.

Alisson has enjoyed a majestic season for the Reds in his debut campaign on Merseyside, and he must keep his place ahead of Simon Mignolet on Sunday.

Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are the top flight’s premier full back pairing. The latter proved how valuable he is to Klopp’s team against the Hornets last time out. Both players should start once again here.

Virgil van Dijk can form a solid partnership with just about anybody at centre back, and Joel Matip has come on leaps and bounds alongside him in recent weeks. The dynamite defensive duo can expect to keep their places at Goodison.

The two central midfielders in the 4-2-3-1 formation should be Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum. The pair are undoubtedly the best at their position and deserve to start on Sunday.

As mentioned, Shaqiri needs to enter the fray. The Switzerland international must line up on the right hand side of an attacking midfield trio, with Firmino playing through the middle and Sadio Mane out on the left. That leaves Mohamed Salah to lead the line once again.
