Everyone is sympathetic to struggles on the housing market. However, there will be plenty of Liverpool fans in stitches over Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s current real estate dilemma.

The Daily Mail reported on Monday that the Red Devils boss is currently unable to move back into the £4million Cheshire mansion he stayed in as a United player because Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is renting it.

With the Dutchman’s long term future in the area appearing to be far more secure than the Norwegian caretaker’s, it’s safe to say that Solskjaer won’t be able to reclaim his former home any time soon.

Solskajer is said to have been looking for a permanent dwelling in the Manchester area, with his old pad being an ideal solution. However, the presence of a rather intimidating centre half has clearly put that idea to bed.

This is a development that will bring joy to Liverpool fans everywhere, who relish in every opportunity to get one over on their hated rivals – even in off the pitch situations.

It had seemed unlikely that Van Dijk could be any more beloved by the Anfield faithful, but his status as a thorn in the United manager’s side will only have increased the adoration he receives on Merseyside.

So, for now, Solskjaer will have to continue his search for alternative lodgings. It’s Van Dijk’s house now, and the former Southampton man isn’t going anywhere.
