Danny Higginbotham has hailed “exceptional” Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson for the contribution he has made recently.

The 28-year-old star has started back-to-back games under Jurgen Klopp in the last two fixtures, excelling alongside the likes of Naby Keita, who has seen an up turn in his form – and Higginbotham says that he has been “excellent” in the more advanced role he has been given.

He believes that the England international’s range of passing can often be underestimated, and that Liverpool are lucky to have a player who can adapt so easily.

“He’s been excellent in a more advanced role. We’re more used to seeing him play deeper, but he’s got immense energy to get up the pitch, his timing of runs is exceptional, and I don’t feel he’s credited for how good his range of passing is either,” he told Sky Sports.

“It’s great when you have players like Henderson who can adapt and make an impact.”

OPINION

Higginbotham is absolutely spot on in his verdict of Henderson here. The midfielder has had a realtively mixed season for the Reds this time around, but it is safe to say that he is back in great form, just in time for the Premier League season run-in. Liverpool’s midfield seem to be stealing the limelight at the moment what with Keita’s great form recently too, but it is safe to say that Henderson has been one of their best players recently. His good form is no doubt causing a selection headache for Klopp what with the likes of James Milner and Fabinho competing for a place too, but you can pretty much guarantee that the manager is not going to drop Henderson any time soon – he would be mad to. If he carries on like this, it will be hard for any of his teammates to usurp him for the remainder of the campaign.
