BBC Sport pundit Pat Nevin has saluted Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah for his decisive performance against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Egyptian international scored a phenomenal second goal as the Reds secured a 2-0 victory in a few second half minutes. Nevin, it’s safe to say, was very impressed by the 26-year-old as he was left raving about his ability to change the game.

“He’s incredible at the moment,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live [14/04; 17:44]. “Big players turn up for big games, and he’s certainly done that since the start of the game.

“He was off a little bit a few times in the first half, but he is always dangerous and he’s certainly had the beating of Emerson,” he finished.

OPINION

It’s difficult to argue with anything Nevin says, here. Salah was absolutely superb on Saturday and he made the most telling contribution to a fascinating contest at Anfield. Sadio Mane had already put the Reds in front, of course, but it was the Egyptian who put the game to bed with a sensational long range strike. He cut inside from his typical position on the left and absolutely smashed it past Kepa Arrizabalaga into the top corner. The Spaniard had no chance in the Chelsea goal, it was simply a magnificent effort from the former Roma man. There’s been a lot made about how Salah hasn’t performed particularly well against the Premier League’s other top sides this season. He put that to bed on Saturday with a tremendous display and a strike that will almost certainly be a contender for goal of the season. All you can do is admire this world class attacker and his relentless Liverpool team.
