Richalison agent speaks out about Liverpool rumour

Richarlison’s agent has rubbished links between the Everton attacker and Liverpool after a meeting with Jurgen Klopp.

Renato Velasco did meet with the Reds manager, however it was nothing to do with £70million-rated Richarlison, as reported by Brazilian news outlet UOL.

It was suggested in that report that a potential move to Anfield was on the cards for the Brazil international.

However it seems that Richarlison will not be heading across Stanley Park in the summer transfer window, as Velasco was only meeting Klopp because the father of another one of his clients is friends with the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss.

“So my meeting with Klopp had nothing to do with Richarlison,” Velasco told Sport Witness. “I am an agent of a player of Germany (Noah Weißhaupt), of Freiburg and the U20 of Germany, where his father played with Klopp and they’re friends. So they did not see each other in time and I went to his house to take Marcos (the father).

“It has nothing to do with Richarlison, the people who made the link have added one thing to another.”

OPINION

Fair play to Velasco for coming out and clearing this up. In a lot of cases, agents would just let the speculation swirl because being linked with a move to Liverpool would certainly be ideal publicity for Velasco and Richarlison. However it now seems as though the agent’s meeting with Klopp had nothing to do with the Everton forward and the whole story has been rubbished. That might be a relief to some Liverpool supporters who do not rate the former Watford star. Richarlison started well after he joined the Toffees in the summer but his form has not been as good since the start of 2019. He would be nothing more than a bench-warmer at Anfield and it is best that the Reds look at other, more appealing attackers than him in the summer. No one in their right minds would pay £70million for Richarlison, which is undoubtedly good news for Everton.
