Former England international Graham Roberts has taken issue with Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah’s first half ‘dive’ against Chelsea on Sunday.

The 26-year-old elected to throw himself to the floor despite seemingly receiving no contact from Blues defender David Luiz. The Egyptian, of course, went on to score a phenomenal goal to secure a 2-0 victory at Anfield.

Roberts, it’s safe to say, was not happy: “Take it no mention – Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Sports News – about another dive from Salah,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“Every single game at the moment – unreal!,” he finished.

OPINION

Liverpool supporters likely won’t agree, but Roberts has a bit of a point, here. Salah is getting a reputation for himself and, while he’s not actually doing it every week like Roberts says, he has produced a number of these sorts of moments this season. Luckily for the Reds star, his sensational goal will most likely erase this incident from the memories of most viewers. They will be talking to their friends about the wonder goal the Egyptian produced, not the dive he got away with in the first half. And it was a dive, make no mistake about that. If you watch the replay you can see that Luiz made no contact with Salah whatsoever. Despite that, though, the former Roma man went down in the hopes of conning the referee into giving his side a penalty. It didn’t work, of course, and he went on to score that fabulous second goal. This was another dark blot on his copy book, though, and he needs to cut it out sooner rather than later.
