OPINION
Liverpool produced an almost flawless performance in order to win 4-1 in their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night, and even though Fabinho was not on the scoresheet, he did have a big part to play in this fixture. His teammate Gini Wijnaldum may not have been at his best, but Fabinho thoroughly made up for that with a “fantastic” display in the middle of the park. One fan tweeted how he has earned his transfer fee during a period of time in the match when Porto piled the pressure on Liverpool, and it was encouraging to see him remain consistent after his great outing against Chelsea on Sunday. He had been a bit off the boil before that, but after this, he will no doubt remain as Jurgen Klopp’s first choice for his midfield trio. How could he not stick with him after this display? He was rather impressive, and he thoroughly deserves to play a part in the season run-in.

Our midfield choices are insane. Fabinho is our only true DM. Every other midfielder is an actual CM. Next season midfield picks will be very interesting. I have been saying it for years but Liverpool is truly the best team in the world. Don’t @ me

In that period of 25 mins of pressure from Porto, Fabinho earned his transfer fee.
He was brilliant.
