It is hard to imagine life at Liverpool without Jurgen Klopp, isn’t it? The manager has become a part of the furniture ever since his appointment.
The way he has turned the team into genuine Premier League and Champions League contenders is the sign of remarkable management and the ability to pick out excellent signings.
Before him, the thought of the Reds winning the title would have been laughed at, let alone winning Europe’s elite competition – something which they came close to achieving after reaching the final last season.
That is why the entire Liverpool fanbase are likely to be tearing their hair out at the fact that Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport has claimed that AC Milan are interested in prising Klopp away from Anfield.
This is pretty much a supporters’ worst nightmare, to put it plainly. You could not think of a better fit for Liverpool than the German coach, and to be honest, the Reds would not have one hand on the league title if it were not for him.
Should he leave, the likelihood of the Reds being genuine contenders for any silverware will be very slim indeed. Brendan Rodgers couldn’t achieve it, nor could Roy Hodgson. So to put anyone else in charge would be unthinkable at this moment in time.
The report also states that the Serie A outfit are interested in Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, so it remains to be seen just how much they want Klopp. That being said, the Reds manager being linked to any other club is not what the fans want to hear in such an important stage of the season.
Would Klopp be tempted by a challenge in Italy? You would hope that the answer to that question is a definitive no.
