Liverpool have tabled a bid for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Thorgan Hazard, offering more money than Borussia Dortmund have for the 26-year-old, according to DH.

The Belgian newspaper claims that although Monchengladbach are pushing Hazard, 26, towards a switch to Anfield, the Belgium international is not convinced that it is a move that would see him playing regular first team football.

German news outlet Kicker has reported that Hazard would like to join Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

However it seems that Gladbach want the wide-forward to join Liverpool because it would mean they are not selling their best player to a Bundesliga rival and can make more money off the sale.

OPINION

Hazard has been in terrific form for Borussia Monchengladbach this season, scoring 12 goals and supplying 11 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions. The Belgium international might not be as good as his brother Eden, who plays for Chelsea, but he would definitely be a good addition to the Liverpool attack force if Jurgen Klopp can sign him in the summer. However it seems as though Klopp is going to be beaten to the punch by his former club Borussia Dortmund, as Hazard reportedly wants to join them in the summer instead. You can understand why he would make the move. Dortmund need a replacement for Chelsea-bound Christian Pulisic and Hazard sees Signal Iduna Park as somewhere he can play a lot more regularly than at Liverpool. At Anfield, Hazard would be behind Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in the pecking order. It seems Liverpool’s only hope of signing Hazard is if Gladbach can successfully convince him to join them.
