Mick Quinn has delivered a plea to Manchester United players to do Liverpool a favour ahead of Wednesday’s Manchester derby.

Sending a message to Alan Brazil on his TalkSPORT breakfast show, Quinn, who was born in Liverpool and is a Reds fan, called for a “truce” between the two clubs before nearly singing one of his rivals’ songs.

The Liverpool supporting pundit spoke about the rivalry between the two clubs but also delivered his hope that United would be able to beat or at least draw against City at Old Trafford.

If Manchester City drop points against United on Wednesday, Liverpool will be in the ascendancy for the title.

Despite his sorry admission that he’ll be hoping for a United victory, Quinn couldn’t help himself when throwing some cheeky insults regarding his city being far superior to his beloved Liverpool.

OPINION

This is a debate that has spread everywhere with many Liverpool players coming out saying they’ll be supporting Manchester United come Wednesday night. The word support will be used lightly in this situation and Liverpool players will know they can not affect games that they are not involved in. They will be more concerned with the matter of winning their three remaining fixtures. With that being said they do have to rely on other teams to do them a favour at one point and tonight could be Manchester City’s toughest task. If City win all their games, then the league will be theirs but Liverpool will take great confidence in the fact that they struggled to score at Old Trafford and will be hoping the same outcome will occur in the derby. If the worst was to happen and City were to gain three points then Liverpool’s attention will switch to the crunch games with Barcelona in the Champions League, a competition City no longer have to think about.
