Many Liverpool fans will surely be thrilled that Andy Townsend has noticed that Trent Alexander-Arnold doesn’t show any signs the pressure is getting to him.

The Sky Sports pundit implied he was impressed by the 20-year-old defender as he seemed able to cope with featuring for the Reds despite there being a lot of pressure on them due to the intense race for the Premier League title.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold for a young boy coming into this situation, I don’t see him looking too pressured when he is flashing balls in with that right foot,” said Townsend on Sky Sports’ The Debate (Sky Sports Premier League, Thursday April 4th, 22:14).

This statement will likely leave Reds fans bordering on being smug for several reasons.

Firstly they will be happy that someone has picked up the fact that one of the least experienced members of Jurgen Klopp’s side isn’t affected by the pressure and if anything is thriving under it.

Alexander-Arnold has been consistently good in recent weeks for the Reds and he looks a lot older than 20-years-old due to the maturity of his displays.

It’s often been said that Man City have an advantage over the Reds due to having Premier League winning players, in fact that’s what Andy Cole pointed out to Jamie Carragher on Monday, but Townsend dismisses that idea.

If the pundit believes that 20-year-old Alexander-Arnold is handling the pressure, surely that puts to the bed the idea that the Reds are cracking under expectations?

Another reason why Reds supporters are likely thrilled by Townsend’s remarks is due to the fact it puts the spotlight rightly on the full-back.

Due to Alexander-Arnold regularly featuring for Klopp’s side for a while now, it’s often not taken into account how young he still is and he doesn’t get enough praise given his performances and age.

Yet this fact hasn’t escaped the pundit and as a result, Liverpool fans will no doubt be happy with him.
