Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed that Georginio Wijnaldum is the joker in the Liverpool dressing room.
The Dutchman has enjoyed a stellar season for the Reds, and scored a vital brace as they overcame Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final second leg.
But Alexander-Arnold has suggested that his influence isn’t just felt on the pitch.
Speaking to the Echo, he said: “Gini is the joker in the dressing room. He’s someone who is loud but not too loud.
“He’s always really focused on the training pitch but off it he’s laid-back, relaxed and likes to joke around.
“He speaks with everyone in the team. Whoever walks into the changies, Gini will always be there to have banter with them and to make life easier for them.”

Wijnaldum gives off the vibe of being a really decent bloke, and these latest comments from Alexander-Arnold seem to confirm that. You cannot underestimate how important it is to have somebody in a squad who can keep spirits high, and Wijnaldum is evidently that man at Liverpool. The Reds seem to have a very tight-knit group, and that has clearly been a factor in their success this season. There is no way that a side that didn’t believe in itself or feel comfortable with it’s own abilities could ever have orchestrated the kind of comeback that the Reds did against Barca in the semis, and they will just be hoping that they can keep that extraordinary run going when they face Tottenham on Saturday. Whether they win or lose, Wijnaldum’s presence as the comic relief in the dressing room will be a much needed asset in the biggest game of the season.
