Brazil: Liverpool have been unlucky

Alan Brazil has claimed that Liverpool will have been unfortunate if they fail to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title.

The Reds have lost just once in the league this season, against City, but are still reliant on Brighton causing a minor upset against the champions on Sunday if they are to take the crown.

But Brazil believes that Jurgen Klopp’s men couldn’t have done much more.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I’m now thinking that they’re going to be unfortunate if City beat Brighton.

“They’ve lost one game. Crikey.

“You’ve got to say in Klopp’s defence, he’s against a great City side who have spent loads of money. He spent money but City have spent loads.”

OPINION

Brazil is right on this one. It’s hard not to feel some sympathy for Liverpool this season. The chances are that they are going to finish the season with 97 points in the league, and will still be pipped to the title by a formidable Manchester City side. We are bearing witness to two of the greatest teams in Premier League history, and it is just unlucky for Jurgen Klopp’s men that they aren’t out there on their own. They will believe, however, that they can win it until the very last kick of the season, and it is that kind of never say die ethos that has got them to be where they are, and that saw them through their Champions League semi-final against Barcelona on Tuesday night. That competition is now theirs for the taking, but given the choice, you can bet that the Reds would rather have the Premier League after 29 years of waiting.
