Sky Sports pundit Kevin Davies has heaped praise on Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, describing the German as “so infectious”.

The Anfield boss is known for his man-management skills, and Davies has suggested that it makes him a very desirable figure to play for.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (May 16th, 2.55pm), he said: “So infectious. When the results aren’t as good, that’s when he gets around them all and makes them feel special.

“Man-management these days is so crucial to modern football. Anybody wants to play for him, and when you’ve got that as a manager with a group of players, with the fans behind you, more often not you’re going to get success.

“For them, you kind of feel they’re going to get something this year.”

OPINION

You have to agree with Davies here. The former Bolton Wanderers man has been around the block a bit now, and he must look at a manager like Klopp and wish that he had gotten the chance to play for a figure like that. The German is not just a brilliant tactician, he is also one of the most charismatic characters in the modern game. You can tell that he absolutely adores the club, his squad, and his job, and all in all that creates an atmosphere in which the Reds know he will have their back no matter what. That kind of ride or die mentality helps to create a togetherness, but crucially, it’s a togetherness built on positivity. Contrast Klopp’s style to the toxic siege mentality Jose Mourinho likes to stir up, for instance, and you can see why he is regarded as one of the most forward-thinking managers in the game. He is relaxed when he needs to be, ferocious when the situation calls for it, but nine times out of 10, he gets things spot on. What a guy.
