Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has taken a shot at Liverpool over their Premier League title disappointment.

Pep Guardiola’s side just about managed to pip the Reds to league title glory this season in a historic two-horse race, but De Bruyne has no sympathy for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

“It’s a remarkable effort, but it means that we were just better than them in the end,” he said, as per Sky Sports. “I don’t feel sorry for them because I don’t think they’d feel sorry for us. I don’t think anybody felt sorry about the way we went out of the Champions League. You take it.

“I know how they feel because you’re going to feel disappointed. We’d feel the same if it happened to us. But we’re still competitors. It’s been a great battle. I can understand the feelings they have but to feel sorry for them is maybe going a little too far.”

OPINION

De Bruyne seems like he has a bit of bad blood here. He’s a top Premier League talent and a wonderfully gifted midfielder, but he doesn’t come across very well here. There’s such a thing as being gracious in victory and, while he’s not exactly hammered the Reds here, he’s twisted the knife a bit. ‘We were just better than them’. Yes, that might technically be true Kevin, but you don’t need to keep banging on about it. You’ve got your Premier League winners medal at home to show that you were better than Liverpool, you don’t need to tell the world about it. He clearly feels like people were happy when Tottenham Hotspur knocked his team out of the Champions League and has used his frustration there as a reason to take a shot at Liverpool. He just needs to chill out a bit, doesn’t he? You did it, you’ve won the Premier League, go and enjoy it. There’s no reason for him to be talking about the Reds anymore.
