There aren’t many areas in Liverpool’s current squad that you would pick out for immediate improvement.

The Reds have been fabulous all season, and their squad has shown that it has enough strength in depth to put together a sustained bid for silverware on multiple fronts.

Sometimes, however, a player becomes available that you simply have to go for. The kind of player who would walk into pretty much any team in the world. The kind of player who sits at the very top table of the modern game.

There is a very strong argument that Paulo Dybala is one of those players.

The little Argentine has been a magnificent asset for Juventus in recent years, but has struggled a bit this term since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

That is perhaps understandable. The Portuguese ace is such a colossus that those around him always bound to end up fading into the background a little.

That has certainly been the case with Dybala, who has hit just five goals in 28 Serie A appearances this term.

That will disappoint him, and at 25, you would expect a player of his natural quality to be stepping out of the shadows and making a name for himself as a proper goliath of the game.

It would appear that Dybala has taken that viewpoint too.

According to his brother and agent, Gustavo, who spoke to Argentine radio show Futbolemico recently, Dybala could be angling for a move away from Turin this summer.

He said: “Yes, there is a good chance he’ll leave Juventus. Absolutely. He needs a change.

“I can’t say where he’ll go, but there is a strong chance Paulo will leave. Of course he’s not happy there.

“Paulo’s not the only one, as many players are uncomfortable at Juve.”

These are very strong words, but words that should give the Reds encouragement.

Liverpool have been linked with Dybala before, as reported by Tutto Mercato, and if they rekindle that interest, they could land themselves a genuine top tier talent.
