Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has said that Tottenham Hotspur duo Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura will cause the Reds problems on Saturday.

The two English sides go head to head in the Champions League final in Madrid, and Lawrenson feels there are two Spurs players Jurgen Klopp’s team must focus on stopping.

“Harry Kane has not played since he was injured in the first leg of Tottenham’s win over City in the quarter-finals on 9 April,” he wrote on the BBC Sport website. “If he is available, surely he will only start on the bench.

“To be honest, that is not the blow it might have been in the past. Playing with Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min through the middle has a good look about it for Tottenham’s attack. Those two are both absolutely rapid and, if they play, then they are definitely going to cause Liverpool problems on the counter-attack.”

OPINION

Lawrenson’s right, Son and Lucas will almost certainly cause Liverpool problems on the night. They are both very quick, skilful attackers who are capable of scoring at any moment. The former has arguably been Tottenham’s best player this season, while the latter scored the hat-trick that sent Spurs to the Champions League final. So it’s certainly not the end of the world for them if Kane is only fit enough for the substitute’s bench. It’s probably the better choice to leave the England captain on the bench, as it happens, with him being the ideal super sub in the second half. Son and Lucas are in such tremendous form that Mauricio Pochettino cannot, in good conscience, drop either of them. They will pose problems for the Reds defence, but Liverpool have the players to combat that. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson and Virgil van Dijk are all extremely quick defenders, so they are equally strong at the back as Tottenham are in attack.
