Real Madrid are keen to make a summer swoop for Liverpool forward Mo Salah, according to reliable journalist Phillipe Carayon.

The French reporter has suggested that the Spanish giants are eager to land the talismanic 62 cap Egyptian international, regardless of if they can complete a deal for Chelsea winger Eden Hazard or not.

Speaking to Canal+, as quoted by AS, he said: “As we know, Real Madrid are in the process of rebuilding the team and after completing the signing of Eden Hazard.

“We know that Hazard will announce his decision to leave Chelsea after the Europa League final.

“After the Hazard deal is done, Zidane and Real Madrid will be trying to sign another great forward, Mohamed Salah. Madrid’s idea is to form a potent, attacking trident.”

OPINION

If this were to happen, it would be just about the worst news imaginable for Liverpool fans. Salah is the hero of the Kop at the moment; an all-conquering, irresistible poster boy that sparks the team into life and who can singlehandedly take teams apart on his day. Thankfully, however, you feel as if Salah won’t be going anywhere. Madrid are bound to try and flex their financial might this summer, make no mistake about it, but you would be surprised at this stage if they didn’t sign Hazard, and it’s hard to see them being able to secure a player of Salah’s calibre as well during the same window. Perhaps this will come to be more of an issue further down the line, but right now, Salah is a Liverpool player, and you would be amazed if that were to change over the course of this coming summer.
