Robbie Savage has named four Liverpool players in his Premier League team of the week.

The Reds kept their title hopes alive with a late 3-2 win over Newcastle United on Saturday evening, ensuring that the race with Manchester City will go down to the last day of the season.

Divock Origi scored the vital header that kept Jurgen Klopp’s men in contention, and alongside him, Savage picked out Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Jordan Henderson for praise.

Savage posted his team of the week to his personal Twitter account on Tuesday.

OPINION

It’s a strange one this, because you would have to say that this was far from a vintage Liverpool performance. Compared to other matches where they have steamrollered sides further down the league, this was a tight, tense affair in front of a baying Geordie crowd at St. James Park, and honestly, the Reds were fortunate that the wheels didn’t come off their title challenge. At this stage of the season, however, the only thing that matters is winning, no matter how you manage it. That was the case on Saturday. On the basis of the fact that they managed to scrape three points alone, this was a quality performance from the Reds, and one that really showed why they have been such a force this season. It doesn’t seem to matter how or who they play, they somehow manage to find a way to win. That is the true mark of a title winning side. Unfortunately for them, Manchester City are just as adept in that department…
