Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on the thing about Reds’ fans that irritates other clubs.

The former Red believes that other clubs have had trouble coming to terms with the mood around Anfield, due to the club’s recent success in the Champions League.

Carragher claims that the support shown by the Liverpool faithful this season, whether at home or away, has irked fans of rival clubs over the course of the last season.

“I think it winds people up – certainly those on social media – that Liverpool supporters seem to be having the time of their lives over the last three or four years under Jurgen Klopp,” said Carragher to the Liverpool Echo.

“There was no moping about on the final day of the season,

“It was always going to be a party atmosphere and it was better Manchester City had it wrapped it up and it meant sure we could win our game and give the players a good send-off to Madrid.”

OPINION

It’s a cheeky claim from the Liverpool legend, but it has to be said that it seems like it’s a pretty accurate one after the club have enjoyed a long period of good form in both the Premier League and the Champions League under Klopp. Liverpool do seem to be one of those clubs that nobody likes to see doing exceptionally well, and this could have had an effect on fans of other clubs around the world, especially considering the Reds are close to competing in their second Champions League final in the space of two years. The club have certainly been on the rise over the last few seasons under Klopp, and there is no real sign of the Reds slowing down anytime soon. The negative responses from opposition fans will only no doubt increase next season should the Champions League be brought home to Merseyside, but this won’t be a problem for the Liverpool faithful, in fact, it seems like Carragher himself seems to enjoy the whole idea.
