Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has suggested that he set to stay at Besiktas next season after spending the year on loan with the Turkish club.

The 25-year-old, who joined Besiktas on a two-year loan deal last summer, has been in good form for Besiktas in the last few months, as he looks to rebuild his career after a disappointing end to time at Anfield, and has made 34 appearances for the Turkish club this season.

Karius has recovered from an unideal start to life in Turkey, after receiving criticism from his manager Senol Gunes in the first half of the season, and having to appeal to FIFA to respond to him not being paid his wages, according to the Liverpool Echo.

However, Karius now feels that following those situations being resolved he would be content to remain with Besiktas in the Turkish top flight next season.

“I think if all parties are happy and satisfied, I will continue [here], my contract with Besiktas continues,” Karius said as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

OPINION

Karius appears to have no future at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, with the German electing to sign Alisson last summer from Italian side Roma and making the Brazilian his firm choice as the Reds’ number one goalkeeper. The 25-year-old’s last Liverpool appearance was in the Champions League final, which the Reds lost 3-1 to Real Madrid, following two high profile errors from the German goalkeeper. That proved to be the final straw for Klopp, who had stuck by Karius, despite the German making some poor mistakes in matches, since signing him from Bundesliga side Mainz in 2016. Karius signed a two-year loan deal with Besiktas last summer, but even that looked like it might not last after he was criticised by the Turkish club’s manager for his performances. However the 25-year-old deserves credit for managing to turn his form around in the Turkish top flight, and he has now managed to establish himself as a key player for his loan club. Now that his form has been turned around and Besiktas it is probably the best option for him to remain with the Turkish club next season, as he continues to attempt to rebuild his career away from Anfield.
