OPINION
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson produced a wonderful performance in the first half of Liverpool’s Champions League semi final second leg clash with Barcelona on Tuesday night. The Reds skipper was clearly up for the game from the start as he set the tone for a night where Liverpool were hoping to do the impossible. The former Sunderland man was everywhere at Anfield, rampaging around the midfield and bombing forward relentlessly. He played a huge part in Divock Origi’s opening goal, dancing through the Barca defence and forcing Marc-Andre ter Stegen into a save which he couldn’t push far enough away and from which Origi could giddily put the ball in the back of the net on the rebound. That goal wouldn’t have been possible without Henderson, though. He has flourished in a more advanced role recently and we saw the fruits of that positional change yet again in the first half here.

What a run by Hendo and what an important finish that could be by Origi. Great start by #LFC
