OPINION
Liverpool fans know that if they are to lift the title on Sunday, they will need a minor miracle. As well as beating Wolves, which in itself will be no walk in the park, the Reds will have to rely on lowly Brighton doing a number on Manchester City. Logic dictates that it isn’t going to happen, but if the Reds’ midweek exploits against Barcelona have taught us anything, it’s that logic matters for very little in professional football. And if hopes weren’t high enough for some kind of divine intervention, Kopites have taken the latest news coming out of the Amex as an omen of their impending glory. According to Sky Sports News, Brighton captain Bruno will play his last game for the club this weekend, and the announcement has inadvertently made him a figurehead for Liverpool’s last gasp title bid. Suddenly, a player nobody on Merseyside could have cared less about this morning has become a point to rally around as the Reds hope against hope for a first title in 29 years. There’s nothing like a final outing for a club legend to rouse emotion, and Liverpool will be hoping that the Seagulls can give their skipper the winning, or drawing, send off that Anfield feels he deserves.
