OPINION
Liverpool playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri did rather little playmaking for much of the game in his team’s 4-0 victory over Barcelona in their Champions League semi final second leg clash on Tuesday night. The Swiss star looked subdued and short of match-fitness for much of the contest, including an extremely poor effort in the first half. However, he made up for it all in the second half when he produced the cross that allowed substitute Georginio Wijnaldum to grab his second goal and Liverpool’s third. That provoked a phenomenal reaction from the frenzied Anfield crowd and, while credit must go to Wijnaldum, it’s worth remembering Shaqiri’s part in the goal. It was an excellent cross that the Dutchman gleefully powered home. What a game this was and, while he disappointed for large portion’s of it, the former Stoke City man made his presence felt on a cold, Tuesday night. Who would have thought it?

Shaqiri looks as though he can't keep up with the pace of the game. Brewster on in the second half plz and thank you.

I love Shaqiri but he's been out of it tonight. I say bring on Sturridge and move Mane to the wing. Mane is another player who needs to step up, not falling on the ground every chance he gets. Up the Reds. ? #LFC #LIVBAR
