Chris Sutton has admitted that all the pressure will be on Liverpool in Saturday’s Champions League final against Tottenham.

The clash in Madrid will be Liverpool’s second consecutive attempt at winning European silverware after failing against Real Madrid last season with a 3-1 defeat.

The BBC pundit, Sutton, spoke about who the impetus was on in the big clash: “I sense Liverpool really mean business. You talk to Liverpool fans, they expect their team to win. In many respects, that puts the pressure on Klopp’s team”.

Liverpool’s clash with Spurs was confirmed after one of the greatest comebacks in the competition when the Red’s overturned a three goal deficit against Barcelona winning 4-0 in the second-leg at Anfield, thanks to a couple of braces from Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum.

OPINION

This really is the Champions League final that no expected and one that looked so unlikely at many different points throughout both sides campaigns. Tottenham produced two great performances against Manchester City and Ajax but it was Liverpool who against all odds got here and now take to the field as strong favourites after beating Barcelona. Sutton is right – many people expect Liverpool to win, none more so than there fans who are eagerly awaiting Saturday’s game with little patience. Pressure shouldn’t get to the Reds who will be more than prepared for this one, with Jurgen Klopp expecting nothing less than %100 determination and drive to achieve their goals and the German will not accept anything less than that on the night. The impetus is certainly with Klopp’s side after their phenomenal efforts in the Premier League campaign and should they go into the game at Madrid with the same attitude then they will have a massive chance of taking home the coveted Champions League final.
