Ojo arrives at Rangers

|

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo has arrived at Rangers to complete a loan move for next season, according to the Daily Record.

The 21-year-old is expected to complete a medical at Ibrox ahead of a temporary switch, following in the footsteps of Ryan Kent, who spent last year under Steven Gerrard’s tutelage to great effect.

Ojo spent last season on loan at French side Reims, making 18 appearances in all competitions, and has made 13 senior appearances for the Reds during the course of his career.

OPINION

This is a brilliant move from Liverpool. Ojo has the potential to be a really special player, but if he is to ever reach that potential he needs to be playing regular senior football. He got just that in France last season, but the move to Ibrox, with Gerrard helping to guide him, could be just what he needs to really push on. Ryan Kent showed just how effective a spell in Scotland can be for a player, and if his star were to rise even half as much as Kent’s has over the past 12 months, this deal would be considered a success. Only time will tell how this one plays out, and it’s important to remember that nothing has been confirmed yet, but it feels as if a deal is imminent, and Ojo must now seize this opportunity with both hands. It is there for the taking, but should he fail to impress, you would have to worry about his future at Anfield. The chances are good, but the risk is high.
