VfL Bochum have approached Liverpool with an enquiry about full-back Anderson Arroyo, according to Goal.

The news outlet claims that the German second-tier side is the latest club to eye up the 19-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Gent but failed to make a single first-team appearance.

Arroyo can play as both a right-back or a left-back but has been constantly sent out on loan by Liverpool as he failed to get a work permit when he joined them from Fortaleza in 2018.

OPINION

Arroyo’s move to Liverpool last year has not really panned out that well for him. He has so far failed to earn a work permit and has been loaned out to both Mallorca and Gent. Arroyo didn’t make a first-team appearance in either spell and played mostly for Mallorca’s B team in the Segunda B division. Gent should have been a place where the pacey full-back progressed but he failed to even make a matchday squad for the Belgian side, which has to be concerning for Liverpool. Hopefully a move to Bochum might kickstart the Colombian’s career in Europe. Bochum are a very traditional club in Germany and as they play in the second-tier, there might be more of a chance for Arroyo to get some game-time. If he fails to play much there, then Liverpool need to give some serious thought to the youngster’s long-term future because it’s not ideal to keep stringing him along.
