Liverpool have surely been dealt a blow by reports that attacker Harry Wilson will seek a permanent move away from the club rather than a loan move this summer.

According to a report from the Football Insider, Wilson is set to inform Jurgen Klopp that he would be wanting a permanent move away from Anfield, rather than being loaned out again next term, if the Wales international is not considered to be the German’s plans for next season.

It is believed that Wilson is receiving strong interest from clubs in the Premier League and Championship, as well as some clubs in Spain, Germany and Italy following the winger’s excellent form whilst out on loan at Derby County last season.

However, despite Liverpool still thought to be considering the option of sending the 22-year-old out on loan again this summer, the winger is keen to search for a new permanent home if he is not to be part of the first team squad at Anfield.

That would be a blow for Klopp’s side, with Wilson being eager to find a permanent solution to his future this summer, rather than potentially go out on loan for another season to develop further before coming back and attempting to get involved with the first team squad.

Wilson would probably ideally like to be told by Klopp that he is going to be a part of the German’s first team plans next term, but if he is not deemed ready to make the step-up to the Reds’ first team squad, then the Wales international looks likely to leave Anfield on a permanent basis.

However, despite his impressive form on loan at Derby last campaign, it is unlikely that Wilson will be able to dislodge the likes of Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah in the wide positions at Liverpool in the near future.

Therefore it could be likely that the winger does end up leaving the Reds on a permanent basis this summer, so that he is able to go and get regular game time at a club he feels he has a long-term future at.

Liverpool should be doing all they can to secure the long-term futures of players with the talent of Wilson, but with Klopp’s Champions League-winning squad full of world class, talent they might have to get used to talented younger players opting to leave the club to find regular minutes elsewhere.
