Liverpool are plotting a raid for Besiktas and Turkey international Dorukhan Tokoz after months of scouting from Jurgen Klopp, according to journalist Gurler Akgun.

The beIN Sports Turkey reporter claims on his personal Twitter account that the Reds have been watching the 23-year-old for the last three months and that a £13.3million (€15million) move is being readied.

The five-cap Turkish midfielder has been a mainstay for his club since establishing himself in the starting XI, making 25 appearances for the Super Lig outfit which included missing just three league games since November.

Opinion

At 23-years-old Tokuz will be looking for regular first team football and there should be serious doubts over whether he is going to find that at Anfield. Klopp already has plenty of talent in the middle of the park, the likes of Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson backed up by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and James Milner. For the Turkish international to play he would have to bring something different to what is already on offer on Merseyside and right now you cannot see why Klopp would want another option to choose from. Still, with months of scouting data on the Besiktas man, there must be something special that the German boss sees in him. Maybe he is viewed as someone who can make an impact in a couple of years, when the likes of Milner and possibly another one or two are gone. It would likely mean a loan spell away and there will be some reluctance from the player to move without the promise of game time. It is an interesting move which poses a number of questions – they will have to be answered before anything is signed off.
