OPINION

As far as news stories go, “ex-Everton man urges Liverpool’s best player to join another club” is hardly groundbreaking is it? Samuel Eto’o, who had a brief spell with the Toffees back in 2014 has gone on record as stating that he believes that La Liga is the best league in the world, and that Mo Salah should jump at the opportunity to move to Spain, should the opportunity ever arise, as reported by the Echo. The Cameroonian legend also suggested that the Egyptian King would be better suited to Barcelona than he would be to Real Madrid. Now, there are a few obvious holes in Eto’o’s argument. For one, with four European finalists this season, and with some of the finest footballing talents on the planet, surely the Premier League currently eclipses its Spanish counterpart in terms of status. Secondly, with a sixth European title under their belt, and with Jurgen Klopp at the helm, why would Salah want to leave Anfield at all? The Reds are on the cusp of something really special, and with the right management and backing, the 27-year-old could be part of a side that helps build a dynasty on Merseyside. Nobody in their right mind would walk away from that.
