Junior Firpo is a superb left-back and it is no surprise to see so many Liverpool fans blown away by a report linking the Real Betis ace with a summer switch to Anfield. According to Spanish news outlet Sport, the Reds are interested in signing Firpo, 22, before the start of next season as a replacement for exit-bound Alberto Moreno. It is understood that Firpo’s release clause stands at £45million and while he is a very good player, why would Jurgen Klopp spend that much money on a player who will be back-up behind Andrew Robertson? Firpo is not as good as the Scotland international, but he’s too good to be a back-up. The attack-minded left-back made 29 appearances in all competitions for Real Betis last season, scoring three goals and supplying five assists in the process. While it’s fine for Liverpool fans to be excited by this transfer report, they should not get their hopes up too much because Firpo will surely want a spot in the starting line-up.
