OPINION
Liverpool announced on their official website on Tuesday that striker Daniel Sturridge and left back Alberto Moreno will be leaving the club when their contracts expires this summer. Obviously this has seemed to be in the cards for some time now. Basically when a player gets within a month of their deal expiring and they haven’t agreed a new one, they’re being let go. That’s what’s happened here. Moreno’s Reds career has essentially been over since Andrew Robertson took the number one left back spot and became one of the world’s best at his position. There were hopes earlier in the season that Sturridge might be on for a revival and would get a new deal as a result. However, that never truly happened and his departure has appeared inevitable for a while. He’s been a tremendous servant to Liverpool over the years and had the best season of his career with his club, so in some ways it’s sad to see him go, which is the sentiment expressed by many Liverpool fans below.
