Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Timo Werner, with Bayern Munich cooling their interest in the forward, according to the Mirror.

The national newspaper claim that the German giants have prioritised a move for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane over the 23-year-old.

The Mirror claim that Red Bull Leipzig have valued Werner at £50million, and are uncertain on whether or not the German international would be interested in a move to Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp looks to be favouring moves for attacking players over defensive reinforcements this summer. A move for Timo Werner would set the Reds back £50million, which in the current market could definitely be seen as a bargain. At 23-years-old, Werner holds World Cup experience and is a mainstay at Red Bull Leipzig. Since arriving from Stuttgart, the pacey forward has been involved in 88 goals in his 114 appearances, 61 of those being goals of his own. The question everyone will be wanting answered is where would Werner fit in at Anfield should a move be completed. In Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool have one of the deadliest attacks in world football, and Werner coming in would definitely require a change of system. The Reds’ main three would have to drop deeper, which would see the young German play as a lone striker for Klopp, something which could work very well. As it stands, a move for Werner looks highly unlikely, with his most probable club at the beginning of next season looking like Leipzig.
