If you’re a Liverpool fan, you must be pretty happy with your lot right about now.

With a sixth European trophy in the bag, and with a Premier League title just a hair’s breadth away last term, this is the most successful spell in the club’s history for quite some time – and you would expect it to keep getting better.

Jurgen Klopp doesn’t appear to be going anywhere any time soon, and the vast majority of the core of the squad are of a good age and on decent, long term contracts.

All in all, things are good, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for improvement.

According to the Express, the Reds will look to bring in a new defender to partner Virgil van Dijk at the heart of defence, with Joe Gomez’s injury record apparently a matter of concern around Anfield.

If that report is true, then the Kop could do far worse than a swoop for PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe.

The French World Cup winner is understood to be on his way out of his home country, with Arsenal being mooted as a potential destination after the Gunners got in contact with the player’s dad, according to French outlet Soccer Link.

But Liverpool should be looking to usurp that move.

The Reds have been linked with Kimpembe before, as reported by Goal, and they should definitely rekindle their interest this summer.

At 23, he is already a world class talent, but has the potential to become one of the very best in the European game.

Pair him with van Dijk and just watch the young man flourish.
