Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has personally scouted Liverpool winger Ryan Kent this summer, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper claims that the world-renowned boss has taken a look himself at the 22-year-old, having delayed his side’s pre season tour of Australia to witness him in the flesh.

Kent has been included in Jurgen Klopp’s squad for the Reds’ pre season trip to the United States of America, and impressed in a 3-1 friendly win over Bradford City recently.

Indeed, Bielsa was there to watch the Englishman in action, as he considers making a move for the player this summer.

OPINION

Kent is very much a man in demand this summer. The Record’s report states that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is desperate to bring the winger back to Ibrox after his tremendous campaign on loan with the Glasgow giants last time out. However, it appears that Bielsa is determined to provide the Liverpool legend with severe competition for the player. Ultimately, though, this depends on what Klopp wants to do with Kent. Does he want to sanction another loan move and merely delay a decision on him, or does he decide to cash in now while his stock is high? The other option, of course, is to keep him around and see whether he can make a run at the first team in the near future. If he does leave the club then both Rangers and Leeds will clearly be ready to make an official move for him. The chance to link up with a world class manager like Bielsa will obviously be appealing, but then so would a reunion with Gerrard, so it’s a tough one for Kent this summer.
