Jason Cundy shared he had a funny feeling that Liverpool were going to win the Premier League title in their 2019/20 campaign.

The talkSPORT pundit pointed out that the Reds could have a magnificent season with them having the chance of winning seven trophies, before tipping them for the league title.

“Liverpool have got seven cups to win, it could be a magnificent season for them, I’ve got a funny feeling they’re going to win the title,” said Cundy on talkSPORT (17:54, Friday, July 26th).

Adrian Durham then responded to Cundy’s admission, after telling him to shut up, by questioning whether Liverpool trio Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane were up to the task.

“Oh shut up,” said Durham, with Cundy insisting he is serious.

“Cause Mane is shattered, Salah is heading downwards, he was brilliant not last season but the season before, he was okay last season.

“Firmino was injured last season…they’ve lost Sturridge. They’ve got Origi? Shaqiri? Nah not gonna happen, mate.”

OPINION

Durham was way too dismissive of the Liverpool’s chances of winning the league especially when you consider how close they came last season. The Reds finished with 97 points, losing just one game, and were only one point behind eventual champions Manchester City. While Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t gone wild in the transfer market, given how close they came to their first Premier League title last season, they likely will be able to cope without new additions. Granted Durham’s concerns about Mane and Fimirino’s fitness after a busy summer for their nations is warranted, but perhaps Divock Origi or Reds youngster Rhian Brewster will be able to step up and cover for them if needs be.  After all, Brewster may make an instant impact upon making his Reds debut in a competitive match in the upcoming campaign, as the 19-year-old forward has been prolific previously at youth level. Brewster during his fledgeling career has scored nine, while assisting nine, in the 21 outings he has made in the Premier League 2, and has also scored five goals in 11 outings when he featured in the U-18s Premier League.
