Reported Liverpool transfer target Harvey Elliott was in the stands for the Reds’ pre season clash with Tranmere Rovers, according to journalist Ian Doyle.

The Liverpool Echo reporter revealed the news on his personal Twitter account, claiming that the 16-year-old was in attendance at Prenton Park on Thursday.

This comes after Goal reported earlier this week that the Fulham midfielder, the Premier League’s youngest ever player, is on the verge of signing for Jurgen Klopp’s team.

OPINION

Well, this essentially confirms that Elliott is about to sign for Liverpool. You don’t have players in the stands at matches, even if they are only pre season affairs, unless they are about to sign for the team they are being heavily linked with. Certainly, Elliott is by all accounts about to become a Liverpool player. Goal’s report states that the Reds have beaten a host of teams to the capture of the teenage phenom. Now he’s in the stands at a Liverpool game. It doesn’t take Albert Einstein to put two and two together, here. It certainly seems that Klopp is building for the future in this transfer window, rather than trying to sign players who will come in and improve his starting line up. He’s already brought in a 17-year-old centre back in Sepp van den Berg, and now it seems he is on the verge of signing a 16-year-old as well. Elliott is no regular 16-year-old, though, and you know Klopp wouldn’t bring him in unless he feels he’s got a big future with the European champions.
